Crystal meth has become a popular drug of choice for many people these days. Unfortunately, an addiction to crystal meth is extremely dangerous and can have many side affects, both physically and mentally on the human body.

Having a crystal meth addiction and using crystal meth can cause mild physical problems such as skin abscesses, insomnia, rapid loss of weight due to a decreased appetite and stomach pains. These are often experienced with the initial use of crystal meth, and continued use causes more severe ailments. Chronic use of crystal meth can cause strokes, extremely high temperatures of the body, cardiac arrhythmia and a dangerous inflammation of the lining of the heart. Other physical conditions can also include kidney, liver and long damaged as well as a severe deterioration of nasal cavities if inhaled frequently through the nose.

There are many psychological and mental side affects to using crystal meth as well. From extreme euphoria to extreme depression, all types of feelings can be caused by chronic use of crystal meth. Insomnia and loss of REM sleep can cause hallucinations, delusions and extreme paranoia. Other mental issues that can be caused by a crystal meth addiction include aggressiveness, irritability, schizophrenia and other irrational behavior.

These are just a handful of the many problems caused by a crystal meth addiction. There are a great many more that one can experience from chronic use of crystal meth, which make it extremely important for those suffering from a methamphetamine addiction to seek treatment from a rehabilitation center.
